Our practice
A different kind of care, in the heart of Manhattan
Patients come to us exhausted, in pain, or simply not feeling like themselves. Some are managing a condition they've struggled with for years. Others are looking for something they haven't been able to find in conventional care — a practitioner who takes the time to truly listen.
Every visit is about more than relief — it's about understanding the body more clearly, and walking away with a plan that genuinely fits.
The practice is located at 32 Union Square East — close to Gramercy, the Flatiron District, and Chelsea, and accessible from every major subway line and PATH train at 14th Street / Union Square stations.
Care that actually feels different
-
There's no need to repeat the story at every visit. Dr. Hewwing knows the history, tracks progress, and refines each treatment over time. That continuity isn't just reassuring — it's part of what makes the medicine work.
-
Symptoms are the starting point, not the whole story. Every intake explores lifestyle and the patterns beneath the surface — the ones conventional medicine often doesn't have time to address.
-
There are thousands of herbal formulas, and selecting the right one requires more than training — it's an art developed through years of clinical experience. The goal is always a formula tailored to the individual: their constitution, their pattern, their presentation at this moment.
The body is never static, and neither is the formula. It shifts as the body responds — because the aim is never long-term dependency.
-
Treatment here isn't fixed. Each session builds on the last — needle placement, herbal formulas, all of it adjusted through ongoing reassessment so the approach always reflects where the body is now.
-
Treatments take place in a private, dedicated room. There's no rushing, no shared space — just time and attention
“Sam is pure magic. I had complete numbness in my lower left side of my face after double jaw surgery. In like 6 sessions she was able to give me sensation back. My mouth is now fully back to normal.
She is so comprehensive, She even addressed the peak of my depression. She is a godsend and I’m so glad I found her. The most caring and thorough acupuncturist and has a lovely space and location.”
